Express Entry
What is the Express Entry System?
Introduced in 2015, the Express Entry system was developed to streamline and simplify Canada’s immigration process. It has significantly reduced processing times and improved accessibility for applicants. Rather than being an immigration program itself, Express Entry is a management system that oversees applications for three major federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used to evaluate and rank candidates in the Express Entry pool. It plays a key role in determining who receives an invitation to apply or a provincial nomination. Applicants are awarded points based on several core factors, including:
- Age
- Work Experience
- Educational Background
- Language Proficiency
- Adaptability
- Valid Job Offer
- Spouse or Common-Law Partner Factors
Ways to Boost Your CRS Score
You can increase your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score through the following:
- Holding a Canadian diploma, degree, or certificate
- Demonstrating strong proficiency in English or French
- Receiving a nomination from a Canadian province or territory
- Having close family members (such as siblings) residing in Canada
- Securing a valid job offer from a Canadian employer
