All primary and secondary schools in Canada are automatically DLIs. For post-secondary institutions like colleges, universities, and language schools, you can consult the official list of designated institutions.

- Have sufficient funds to cover, Tuition fees, Living expenses and Return transportation
- Obey the law and have no criminal record (a police certificate may be required)
- Be in good health (a medical exam may be required)
- Convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada when your study permit expires
